Gairlochy by the Caledonian Canal
Gairlochy is a picturesque area about 3 miles from Spean Bridge and on the way to Achnacarry and Loch Arkaig. The Caledonian Canal has two sets of lock gates on either end of a wide basin where boats can tie up and berth.
The River Spean flows through the gorge and alongside the Canal on its way to the sea. There is a small community with scattered houses including a few B & Bs. Take a look at Gairlochy Holiday Park for self catering holiday caravans and chalets.
The area is popular with fishermen.
The area has great views of Ben Nevis and the Grey Corries and an extensive beech forest provides delightful walking and cycling paths. The Great Glen Way passes nearby. The Clan Cameron Museum at Achnacarry is about 4 miles from Gairlochy, and well worth a visit. So too are Ka-Aig Falls and Loch Arkaig
