During the short winter days, enjoy a boat trip on Loch Ness, take a drive out to the west coast on deserted roads and walk along a deserted beach at Arisaig - its magic ! Or, take a walk into the forests and glens and just soak up the tranquility. If its really cold, there will be snow on the mountains and Nevis Range will be open for winter sports and visitors.
The sun goes down around 3.30 in the afternoon, and in settled weather the winter sky is beautiful - the mornings can be spectacular as the mountains glow pink while the sun rises and strikes the clouds from below, casting a pink glow over everything....
